Mike Bland Gives Annual Sigma Pi Sigma Lecture Posted on April 22nd, 2010 by


On the evening of April 8, Gustavus physics alumnus Dr. Michael Bland (’02) delivered a lecture entitled “The Geophysical Evolution of Icy Satellites” to Gustavus physics students and faculty. Mike’s talk was the keynote address on an evening that celebrated the induction of seven Gustavus seniors into Sigma Pi Sigma, the national physics honor society. After graduating from Gustavus, Mike attended graduate school at the University of Arizona, where received his Ph.D. in Planetary Science in 2008.For the past two years he has been a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis.
